Introduction to economic evaluation and the ICECAP capability wellbeing measures in health and care settings

Are you interested in improving the use of resources in the health and care system? Would you like to improve your understanding of health economic approaches to evaluation and how these can help inform resource allocation decisions? Would you like to learn how patient wellbeing can be incorporated into healthcare decision making?

This new introductory course has been developed by the ARC West health economics team and is designed primarily for people looking to get an introductory overview of health economic methods, including capability based wellbeing measures,  and how they are used in decision making.

Course topics will include:

• The challenges of resource scarcity
• Different types of evaluation design
• Understanding health-related quality-of-life outcomes and cost-effectiveness
• Broader perspectives on outcomes and economic evaluation
• Approaches to help local decision-makers

The two-part webinar will take online on Thursday 12 March. Part 1 will run from 10:00-11:30 and will consist of a presentation on the introduction to economic evaluation, ARC West case studies, and a 30-minute period for you to discuss any health economic related questions you have with one of our team. Part 2 will run from 11:30-12:30 and will consist of a presentation introducing the ICECAP capability wellbeing measures, ARC West case studies and a short period for discussion. Participants have the option of joining either or both parts of this short course.
