Gain an understanding of the theoretical frameworks which guide economic evaluation; knowledge of the methods used to measure and value costs, health and broader outcomes of care; an overview of trials and modelling techniques used to evaluate efficiency; brief practical experience of analysing cost and outcomes data; critical appraisal skills for assessing of published economic evaluations and insight into the role of economic evidence in local and national (i.e. NICE) decision making in England.
Ground yourself in epidemiological study designs and measures of disease risk used in aetiological epidemiology and health services research. Gain practical experience in study design and the appraisal of epidemiological literature.
