Are you interested in improving the use of resources in the health and care system? Would you like to improve your understanding of health economic approaches to evaluation and how these can help inform resource allocation decisions?

This new introductory course has been developed by the ARC West health economics team and is designed primarily for people working in the health and care system, whether delivering or commissioning services, who are interested in improving the use of available resources and strengthening their knowledge of economic evaluation.

Course topics will include:

• The challenges of resource scarcity
• Different types of evaluation design
• Understanding health-related quality-of-life outcomes and cost-effectiveness
• Broader perspectives on outcomes and economic evaluation
• Approaches to help local decision-makers

The course will take place in the Seminar Room, 9th Floor, Whitefriars, Lewins Mead, Bristol, BS1 2NT, from 09:30 until 16:30 on the dates provided below. The course will consist of presentations, Q&A sessions, and discussion with course tutors.

There will also be the opportunity to participate in a follow-up session, where the course tutors can provide specific guidance and support on resource use improvement projects that attendees are involved in. More details of this will be provided during the course.
