We have a range of videos about different patient and public involvement (PPI) topics.
Working effectively with public contributors in research
Patient and public involvement (PPI) is essential to high quality research. But what should researchers consider when working with public contributors? In this recording of our online seminar, you will hear from four public contributors who have worked in PPI for 20 years between them. Sarah and Louise are regular collaborators with ARC West, while Alex and Ella are members of our Young People’s Advisory Group (YPAG).
Bridging knowledge: Co-producing a stronger research community
We worked with community researchers to develop a community of practice for co-production in research. This video explores the results of a zine-making workshop where those researchers reflected on their experiences of co-production. Co-production in research is a way of bringing people together so they share equal power and influence over a project.
How to facilitate a patient and public involvement meeting
This presentation outlines the things to think about if you’re running a health research meeting with public contributors. It covers the role of the facilitator, how to make people feel at ease, how to manage sensitive subjects or difficult behaviour, and how to flatten power structures. Presented by ARC West patient and public involvement experts Carmel McGrath and Lucy Condon, alongside our long-term (and just as expert!) public contributor Louise Ting.
