Elaine’s PhD post is being funded by ARC WEST, the University of Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The focus of her research is around the practice of Social Prescribing.
Having over 20 years’ experience as an NHS Physiotherapist managing a complex caseload of musculoskeletal disorders, Elaine’s research interests have developed into addressing the wider causes of ill health and the affect these have on patient outcomes and quality of life. She was awarded the Dan Hill Scholarship by ARC West which is dedicated to the memory of Dan Hill (1984-2013), who was instrumental in developing and preparing the CLAHRC West bid (ARC West’s precursor organisation). Dan had a very strong sense of the need for justice and equality, giving up time and energy to support homeless people and other similar causes.
