Research conversations: Sequencing bacteria and virus genomes for disease control
20 May 2025 5-6pm
During this research conversation, Derren Ready will discuss his research exploring public views on using genome sequencing of microbes for disease control.
Sequencing the genomes of bacteria and viruses can help scientists and health workers track infections, understand how they spread, and identify drug resistance.
But it would be helpful to know:
Would people worry about being identified as part of an outbreak?
Would people like to know where their infection came from?
Are people are concerned about having their genetic information revealed?
Derren Ready will talk about his research exploring these questions.
