Telephone outreach in communities with greater health need project presented at NHS Health Check Conference

The NIHR CLAHRC West project looking at telephone outreach to enhance uptake of NHS health checks in more deprived communities was presented as part of a workshop at the 2016 NHS Health Check National Conference on 1 March.
Findings from our qualitative evaluation of the telephone outreach intervention were presented by CLAHRC West’s Tracey Stone, while University of Bristol’s Nikki Coghill talked about the quantitative evaluation of telephone outreach services to encourage uptake of NHS health checks.
Tracey and Nikki were part of an afternoon workshop called ‘The challenge of increasing take up: Learning from Bristol and Salford’, which was chaired by Jamie Waterall, NHS Health Check National Lead, Public Health England. The event was attended by commissioners, public health professionals, voluntary sector representatives and NHS managers.
The NHS Health Check National Conference 2016: Getting serious about prevention was attended by more than 400 people, and included presentations from Duncan Selbie, Chief Executive of Public Health England and Jamie Waterall, NHS Health Check National Lead, Professor Kevin Fenton, National Director of Health and Wellbeing, Public Health England and Sir Bruce Keogh, Medical Director, NHS England.
