Plain language panel will feedback on CLAHRC West research summaries
5 December 2016
We will be improving the accessibility of our research summaries by using a new plain language review panel, made up of members of the public, to review them ahead of publication. NIHR CLAHRC West worked with People in Health West of England to recruit a panel of eight members of the public. They will give feedback on our research summaries to make sure they’re as clear and jargon free as possible.
Rosie Davies, of People in Health West of England, came up with the idea to recruit a panel specifically for this purpose. She was pivotal in designing the process and recruiting people to it. During the recruitment process, the applicants gave feedback on the summary for our ‘low dead space’ syringe project. Their comments and changes were incorporated into the final summary, which is now live on our website.
Zoe Trinder-Widdess, Communications Manager at CLAHRC West said:
“I am really excited about this new panel. This work shows NIHR CLAHRC West’s commitment to accessible, plain language writing, allowing us to share our research with the broadest possible audience. Having seen everyone’s feedback on the syringe project as part of the selection process for the panel, I can already see that they will bring great value to how we publish our projects.”
