“…the whole training was excellent, I found it stimulating and encouraging.”
“The course content has increased my confidence to take next steps.”
It’s always encouraging when we receive feedback like this from people who have attended our courses. Besides the benefits to individuals, it’s great when we hear stories of how our courses have had an impact on various organisations where our participants work, whether it’s Clinical Commissioning Groups, local authorities, charities or other public bodies.
Our goal was to establish a capacity building programme to develop skills in research and evidence for people working in health and social care. We are pleased that, in just over four years, we have delivered 123 courses to more than 1,200 participants. We take pride in being innovative, flexible and collaborative, delivering a unique range of courses, and attracting diverse professions and sectors.
As ARC West, we continue to deliver our popular courses, while also developing new courses to meet the needs of the people and organisations we work with. Here are some of the courses on offer in the next few months:
How to win at Twitter
Basic statistics and data interpretation
Introduction to critiquing the quality of evidence
Head over to our training page for details of these courses. To keep informed of upcoming training opportunities, as well as the latest news, events and insights, sign up to receive the ARC West email newsletter every two months. You also have the option to receive our training bulletin.
I thought I’d share my top three tips to help you get the most out of a training course:
Be prepared. Come with a specific project or assignment in mind. Tutors often ask course participants to try and apply what is being taught using their own projects or assignments in the exercises, for example, developing a logic model for an evaluation.
Be expectant. A training course is more than just a day out of the office! Arrive eager to learn something that you can apply back in your workplace to improve how things are done.
Be open. Our training courses not only help you to learn new skills, they are also a great way to meet new people, build your professional network and even exchange ideas. Networking can be hard work for some people (like me), but our course groups are small enough to make this a lot less intimidating.
Hope to see you at one of our training courses soon.
