Are you interested in improving the use of resources in the health and care system? Would you like to improve your understanding of health economic approaches to evaluation and how these can help inform resource allocation decisions?

This new introductory course has been developed by the ARC West health economics team and is designed for people working in the health and care system, whether delivering or commissioning services, who are interested in improving the use of available resources and strengthening their knowledge of economic evaluation.

Course topics will include:

• The challenges of resource scarcity
• Different types of evaluation design
• Understanding health-related quality-of-life outcomes and cost-effectiveness
• Broader perspectives on outcomes and economic evaluation
• Approaches to help local decision-makers

The course will be delivered via zoom in two, three-hour sessions on consecutive dates (see above). Each session will consist of a blend of live and pre-recorded content, with short Q&A sessions between topics to provide discussion and interaction with course tutors. Recorded content can also be made available to participants prior to the course dates, for viewing asynchronously if more convenient.
