John was Director of NIHR ARC West until November 2024. He’s Professor in Clinical Epidemiology and Primary Care at the University of Bristol, as well as joint head of the University of Bristol’s Centre for Academic Primary Care (CAPC) and NIHR School of Primary Care Research.

Alongside his academic work, John is also a GP in Hartcliffe and with his wife, a specialist foster carer in North Somerset.
