Research summary

The Staff Participation Engagement and Communication application (SPEaC-app), also known as Happy App by staff from University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UH Bristol), collects real-time, work-related mood feedback. CLAHRC West was research and evaluation partner on the project to develop and roll out the app across the trust.

The needs and experiences of Somali families with children with autism aren’t well understood. We worked in partnership with Autism Independence (AI), a community group that supports Somali families affected by autism, to understand their experiences.

Extending the operating hours of the liaison psychiatry service at the Bristol Royal Infirmary’s (BRI) Emergency Department (ED) has led to improved care and outcomes for patients who have self-harmed, our economic evaluation has found.

Our research found that people who inject drugs support the use of detachable low dead space syringes. Evidence suggests that low dead space syringes with detachable needles could reduce the chance of spreading infections.
